How to weaken Velcro

Last weekend I hang letter-shaped rubber jigsaw tiles on some wall to protect the children from injuries.

The idea was to use velcro so that the tiles can be removed and put back again, as the children may certainly start pulling them. I chose a heavy duty 5 cm wide Velcro sticky tape and we hang the tiles with a friend. I waited 24 hours for the tape glue to harden and it all came to be very rigit, apart from one part: the plaster!

The sticking glue is super-strong but the Velcro is so strong that it is difficult for a kid to remove the tiles... When pulling, the plaster goes off before the velcro!!

So I tried to find a way to weaken the velcro strength. I couldn't find a quick solution on google so I found a custom solution: HAIRCUT!

I trimmed the fluffy part of the velcro, leaving about half the height of the hair and yes! It works!

Bottom line: You can weaken a velcro by giving it a haircut! Obvious and practical
